Two Tough Fixtures for Under 14s at Farnham

Two Tough Fixtures for Under 14s at Farnham

Matt Bond13 Apr - 13:09

Bracknell Under 14s beaten at Farnham RFC, in a pair of friendly fixtures after the Easter Break

Returning from the Easter break, Bracknell Under 14s took to the pitches over at Farnham RFC and treated their travelling supporters to two enthralling matches.

For the Development team, it was a bright start, with Tawen crashing over from some great turnover work in the midfield, by a strong Bracknell pack. Alfie taking kicking duties added the extras. A back and forth half saw Farnham go in at halftime with a 14 to 7 lead, thanks to two break away tries. The second half was a war of attrition for both sides, with the firm ground causing multiple injuries. A highlight came from Theo, with a try saving tackle on the line. Strong running all day from Teddy, speedy service from scrumhalf Finn, epic tackling from Teddy and a huge shoutout to the Bracknell forwards, who dominated at scrum time, forcing Farnham backwards at nearly every set piece. Despite a tough final score line, Bracknell never gave up and played some exceptionally good rugby throughout.

For the Under 14s squad, it was a physical affair, with big hits the theme of the day. Unlike their team mates, the Under 14s started slow and were blasted away to a 20 to 0 deficit, within fifteen minutes. A bit of composure and control was needed, and it came just before half time, as Bracknell got themselves on the score sheet. A much improved second half saw Bracknell take the fight to Farnham, with George M driving forward, George W being at his physical best, Fred B controlling the pace and direction from 10 and Braxton charging up the middle at every opportunity. Another daunting scoreline flattered Farnham, who, were the better team on the day however.

A big thank you to Farnham for the superb hospitality and two great fixtures. Here's hoping that future matches are just as exciting next season.
