As a result of resignations and some members of the panel taking on additional responsibilities there are two or three vacancies on the Berkshire Disciplinary Panel..

The Panel deals with alleged disciplinary offences of players from Berkshire Clubs either by post when three members of the panel will be consulted or by a physical hearing when the player and the Club is asked to appear before it.

The work for each panel member is probably less than about eight hours per year and it is helpful for members to be drawn from a wide range of clubs. It is imperative that panels consist of members who are independent of the Club (and player) and where the members have no actual of perceived conflict of interest.

Could you please circulate this amongst your Club members so that anyone interested can write to the Panel Chairman Jonathan Dance at jonathandance@rfu.com or David Levy the Panel Secretary at davidlevyrefs@live.co.uk who will be able to discuss the matter with you and answer questions about the scope and nature of the role.

Many have found that sitting on the panel is a rewarding contribution to the game . Experience (other than of the game) is not necessary and the RFU run training courses from time to time to which any successful applicant will be given the opportunity of attending.

Some members of clubs have from time to time have asked to be considered fro appointment and it would be helpful if they could contact Jonathan or David above so they are aware that the applicant is still interested.
