St Patricks Day Festival

First up Maidenhead, old foes we needed a good start and our boys didn't disappoint. Maidenhead got turned over leaving the quick thinking Aden Studd to grab the first try for the boys in black, this was quickly followed by the lighting fast Sam Reynolds after another Maidenhead error. Maidenhead hit back, 2-1. Jed Crerar made it 3-1 with some individual skill, the boys let Maidenhead back in with another try, this was due to poor tagging on our part. James Burgess punished them with a great solo run to then make it 4-2 Bracknell.

A knock on by the boys let 4-2 slip to 4-3, nail biting time only for Alex Beresford to relieve the tension with a wing hugging solo try, great job Alex. A 5-3 win to Bracknell.

Next up Fordingbridge all the way from the New Forest. They ran straight through the defence to score a try, wake up boys!! Fordingbridge ran into touch letting Bracknell in and Alex didn't disappoint with some more good running, Fordingbridge replied 2-1 only for the talented Jed to score with a super solo try 2-2. Fordinbridge struck again 3-2, the boys passed and tagged well. A knock on let Sam in for a great run down the wing to draw 3-3, just enough time for Jed to run in a good combination try from Aden Studd, Jack Riley and Spencer Bounds and we had won, only to be told that it was to be disallowed by the referee because we had 8 players on the pitch, tut tut oh well great shame move on 3-3 draw.

Next up Farnham always a good team, after a change of tops we were off. Jack Riley struck first after some great passing play by the boys. Farnham bit back only for some more excellent work down the wing for Aden Studd to finish an excellent passing move. Farnham again came back 2-2 after some forward passing and knock on's. Alistair Brown showing great hands, scored for the blacks.
Farnham lost the ball and Spencer Bounds grabbed the spoils, supplying Sam Reynolds go hit the gears and a score a great try. 4-2 Bracknell the boys were stepping it up, tagging well and passing freely including Lawerence Bland, Elliot Desforges and Edward Boseley in good support work. Next try to Bracknell good passing gave Spencer Bounds the opening on the wing To dab in the corner. We were cruising 5-2, Farnham grabbed 2 tries only to be split by fantastic free running by Sam Reynolds 6-2 win, just the job.

Now onto the our last game in the pool against Newbury Blues. Jack Riley ran the first try in, great work got us going, Newbury grabbed 2 tries after knock on's and forward passing cost us dear. Jed Crerar got us back in the game with an amazing run. 2-2.
Newbury grabbed the next try, now it was tense, but are boys coped well with the pressure.
James Burgess hit Newbury 3-3, hard boy to catch on the run. The game swayed and we went to the last play, we had possession, Aden Studd broke the stiff defence only to be tagged near the line, he turned and passed on to Jed who was tagged on the line, he turned and passed onto Spencer Bounds who scored in one step, great 4-3 win, but no forward pass the ref said, it was hard to see how, but the decision was made. The boys faces said it all 3-3 draw.

So 2 wins 2 draws, unbeaten, hopes were high of a semi final place, however we were told by Morag and Paul we had come 5th and were out. It is odd however that we were unbeaten and the 3 winning teams didn't even play us, work that out if you can. We all went onto the London Irish match a bit deflated but our boys done us proud, they all played very well and there was good team spirit. Next up Newbury and Isle of Wight.
