Bracknell Under 8 C’s are victorious at the Windsor Festival

After a small amount of team restructuring at the last minute due to illness, the Bracknell Under 8s, led by James Walford, made the short trip across Berkshire to Windsor RFC and returned three hours later with a rather impressive trophy!

Our first match ended in a narrow defeat to Farnham C. After a slow start which saw us go two tries behind in rather rapid fashion, we woke up and were unlucky to lose by one score. Hard fought wins followed against Windsor, Chobham and Amersham with tries from Matthew Vlatas, Christian Gunner, Josh Elsey, Felix Long and Samuel Hudson meant that we went into the last game, needing only to draw to be sure of securing the trophy.

An unfortunate turnover on the last play of the game saw Farnham D (standing in for the absent Richmond team) equalize, and earn a well deserved point and their first of the tournament, but the draw was enough to see Bracknell crowned as champions.

What was especially pleasing was the way in which the boys played, they tagged well, ran with purpose and supported each other both on and off the pitch. They thoroughly deserved their win.
