Match reports from Farnham and Chobham mini-tournament

Bracknell C Team: Gianluca, Oski, Scott, Sophie, Harris, Ben, Fraser

Game 1 vs Chobham – Lost 5 – 0

Chobham were always going to be a tough opposition especially as they were our first match. However right from the start the C's were showing great potential as a team that had only just been put together and learnt each other's names. On many occasions the C's had passed so many times that they exhausted their 7 tag limit. Throughout the match there was excellent passing and some great running and the score really didn't reflect the effort made by the C's.

Game 2 vs Farnham – Lost 6-3 (having been up 3-2 at half time).
Tries: Gianluca, Fraser and Ben.

Having been on the receiving end of plenty of tagging in Game 1 we did some tagging practice prior to our second game against Farnham. The team were really fired up from the start and got stuck in getting many tags and capitalising on turnover opportunities. Gianluca snaked his way from the centre of the pitch to the far corner to run in the team's first try of the day. Fraser was determined that he was going to get a try as well was unlucky to score just the one. The third try of the first half came from some excellent passing and running which saw the team take the ball from deep in their own half and though excellent support and Ben being glued to Harris' shoulder all the way he was in the perfect position to carry the ball over the line. It would seem that at half time we relaxed a bit too much and Farnham came back fighting in the second half. Once again the score line didn't reflect the effort of the team.

Game 3 vs Farnham whites - Lost 7-2
Tries: Fraser and Ben

Game 3 was a tough game the Cs used all their great passing and tagging moves from the first two games but some tough refereeing resulted in many turnovers to the opposition. Oski and Harris made some excellent breaks down the line only to be stopped just short of the try line. Some very good support play from Scott and Sophie helped to setup the two tries from the new boys Ben and Fraser.

Player of the tournament – Fraser.

It was clear from the start of the day that Fraser was making every effort to be everywhere on the pitch whether we were defending or attacking. His two tries only scratch surface of the impact he made on the game and he was unlucky not to score more.

The team were really unlucky not to win their second game and the final scores should have been much closer. There is some excellent talent emerging in the U8's and we're looking forward to the season ahead.
