Windsor Rugby festival 2012

After last weeks training at Windsor, the start of the rugby season was always likely to be a challenge. The under 8’s entered 2 teams in the festival and after a cold start, had a good first day out.

U8 - A team

v Richmond - Lost 3-5
Tries: Joel, Matthew H, Louis
After a slow start in the first half the team came together in the second half and had some good passing before running in 2 tries to 1.

v Old Guildfordians - Lost 4-6
Tries Rui 2, Zach, Louis
A great first half in outscoring OG by 3 tries to 2 but very well drilled opponents upped their game in the second half and a few missed tags resulted in 4 soft tries.

v Windsor - Lost 3-5
Tries Scott, Rui, Joel
Another game of 2 halves. Windsor was much stronger in the first half scoring 3 unanswered tries. Much improved defence and some good passing nearly levelled the scores before Windsor sealed the game.

v Saracens - Won 3-1
Tries Zach 2, Scott
A very closely contested game but some great play in the first half to take an early lease and then strong defence in the second resulted in the first win of the day.

Unfortunately the team did not score enough points to make it through to the semi-finals but showed great team spirit and enthusiasm. Sergio Grannum was voted as the A team player of the tournament.
