The Bracknell U9's second festival of the season, had come to Maidenhead. We all finally made it after a traffic jam, and a wrestling match with a flag.

Spirits were high and the weather was cloudy and mild, this did not deter our boys.

Maidenhead our hosts up first. The game started well with Bracknell in attack, the boys got a scrum and attacked well, rucking was better than previous week, ( well done lads), to be rewarded with a Jack Riley try, teamwork and effort prevailed. The first half was very tight and both teams breaking the game line and meeting resolute defence
The second half started the same with Bracknell in attack, the ball was not being spread wide allowing the backs in to the game. After a series of knocks on and balls in touch Maidenhead became camped near the Bracknell line, it was intense stuff and very enjoyable to watch. Whistle went, the thin black line had held first blood to Bracknell, the hosts were defeated in a great display by our boys.

After a breathe interval, we were up against Henley Hawks, the game started with a fine forward drive by Spencer Hayhow drawing the Henley defence, we then tested their defence well and an unlucky Jack Riley knock on spoilt a great deal of Bracknell pressure. Henley had some good attacks, but the boys held well.
Aden Studd finished the half with a cutting run from the centre, a good half. The second half was even, only for Henley to score a try, our boys were very unlucky. Rematch called for, 11th December, sounds a good date!

Marlow next, the game started well, moving the ball well and tackling great, these guys were definitely the best team we had played so far. Elliott DesForges was floored in defence and had to subbed, Marlow continued to pressure, their reward a try. Second half started the same with Marlow piling on the pressure with good rucking, the boys laboured but with no reward. Elliott took another big hit and was down for a very long time, worrying moment, he was ok but couldn't continue. The half went on with various rucks, and our boys were struggling to move the ball wide, they ran from side to side and up dead ends of Marlow defence. Marlow scored again to make it 2-0, it was a fair result from a good well drilled team.

After the boys had a snack and went over attics we were up against Newbury Blues.
Newbury started with Bracknell turning over the ball only to knock on. Newbury attacked and scored, the defence was poor, they let Newbury straight through, half time came which was a relief, the boys had time to regroup and a quick chat, the boys came out a new team with better attack, the pressure yielded, a good try by Jack Riley 1-1, that's how it stayed, the boys played a lot better in the second half.

Bracknell A - Bracknell B
The B's started, they were immediately pushed into touch, the tackling was good only for Jed Crerar to break the deadlock, with a talented run from midfield, the game tightened with scrums on both sides, the B's were very physical. The second half started much like the first, very competitive, both wanting to take the spoils back to club. Ethan Lacey was injured in the middle, brave lad recovered well. A second try by Jed, settled the game for the A's 2-0.

A good festival was had by all, the boys are growing in confidence, they are learning the laws of the game well.

Reading festival next, see you there
