There was a clear step-up in class at this stage of the tournament with many of the best teams in South-East England competing. The ‘Green Peas’ found it tough going, unfortunately losing their three games 2:0, 1:0 and 3:0, with the last of these against Sutton Epsom who went on to win the whole tournament. Beccehamians, who also reached the Grand Final, had previously drawn with Bracknell in the semi-finals.
Despite the results the team had every reason to celebrate, having made it all the way to the last eight out of a total entry of 108 teams. As head coach Chris Warner made clear at the end, this was a fantastic achievement and there were hundreds of other children who would have loved to have been in Bracknell’s position. The boys should all feel justifiably proud of getting so far in such a great competition.
