A great morning’s rugby saw Bracknell’s under 9 A team emerge victorious in a four match series at Windsor Rugby Club, winning three matches and losing just one.
In the first match, against Windsor A, scrum half and captain Scott Harman started the scoring with a superb break away try and the lead was doubled soon after by Michael O’Donoghue who proved unstoppable sprinting in from half way. Strong defence then kept the opposition at bay until the final seconds when the ball was turned over and Windsor gathered the loose ball to score in the corner.
In the rematch a clearly fired up Windsor proved too strong for Bracknell, scoring 3 unanswered tries to level the match score at one each.
A game against Windsor B allowed Bracknell to regain confidence with some great forward work and good running from the backs, the team running in five tries altogether in a 5-0 win. Michael Dykes, Scott Harman, Douglas McMurray, Harry Worm and Paul Studd all got their names on the score sheet.
The third and deciding game against Windsor A was a tense affair between two well matched teams with neither side prepared to give ground. The game was ultimately won when Michael O’Donoghue pounced on a loose ball and once again showed a clean pair of heals to score the only try of the match and complete a dramatic series win for Bracknell against the ‘Old Enemy’. They’ll be Irish dancing in the streets of Wokingham tonight!
Well done to all the players on a great team performance.
