Newbury come to Visit

Hi All

We were back at Lily Hill and having enjoyed the extra hour in bed we were raring to go. Pitch 1 was in good condition and the weather was on our side so all we needed was to start.

We welcomed Newbury and enjoyed their company playing games and matches both against them and also with them. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed themselves and the balance seemed to have been met between having fun and learning.

A full report has been sent to all families but again there were some great performances. Henry C showed some great tackling and there were some other fine displays of commitment and technique. Lawson won trainer of the week for putting in another fine shift and showing what can be achieved if you listen and be coached. Well done Lawson, a great session.

We finished with sausage rolls and cookies in the bar and it was great to see the kids of both clubs mixing.

Thank you to all involved in arranging the fixture and making Newbury feel so welcome (both on and off the pitch) and we look forward to sampling some West Berkshire hospitality next season (or sooner!).

A final thanks to the coaches and our manager, we couldn’t do it without you all.
