Bracknell Rugby U10s power to victory at Slough tournament.
Bracknell Rugby Club’s Under 10 B team had an outstanding victory at the weekend’s Slough tournament. Winning all their group games they scored 40 points whilst conceding only five to put them through to the final against the Drifters. Whilst all the group matches were close, Bracknell stuck to their task magnificently defending with real resolve and taking their chances when they came. .The forwards dominated the opposition with Robbie Robson, Andrew McNeill, Ben Cotton and Peter Smart winning the set pieces and most of the breakdown. The opposition really struggled to contain their power particularly with Robbie’s strength continually driving them back. Henry Peate at scrum half kept the team moving forwards sniping around the scrum and darting through gaps. In the backs Dan Salter and Alec Brombley both contributed tries whilst their very solid defence stopped the opposition getting close to their own try line. At fly half and centre, Toby Hullis and Kameron Bains gained many metres darting through gaps in the opposition and putting the Drifters defence on the back foot. On the wings both James Taylor and Jordan Rotondo took their chances with James getting a particularly good opportunistic try amongst his three tries and Jordan producing a searing run down the right wing to beat four defenders with the try of the day. In the final they clearly had no intention of losing, with a continuation of their solid defence keeping Drifters in their own half and well away from the try line. The Bracknell forwards kept battering away and produced a great try to ensure a win by five points to nil. The boys were ecstatic on the final whistle and subsequent presentation of the cup and medals. A real moment for them to treasure with their coaches and club.
