Bracknell RFC's U13 Teams took to the pitch against Maidenhead RFC, in the opening round of the Berkshire Cup, on what was a very cold and miserable afternoon.
The Development side were first onto the field and from kick off, things were very positive, with the attack going well and the defensive line holding firm. The Bracknell team looked the more positive of the two sides and controlled the possession and territory. A small error and quick turnover, lead to Maidenhead getting onto the front foot, leading to the opening try for the home side.
Bracknell hit back, working the ball into space, and used the pace of their outside backs to work through the gaps and level the scoring. From here the match very much became an end to end affair, with both sides battling hard. A few defensive slips allowed Maidenhead to get the advantage and stretch the score line. Despite a superb effort and comeback form Bracknell, late in the second half, it wasn't enough. Maidenhead took the victory by a scoreline of 11-6.
A valiant effort from the Bracknell U13 Development squad, who continue to impress ith their improvements, week on week.
The second kick off of the day saw the U13s face a very strong, and well organised, Maidenhead "A" side. From the start it was a titanic battle, with huge tackles, ferocious breakdown contests and some sublime passing and footwork in attack. Much like the Development side, Bracknell looked to have started the brightest, pushing up field and applying huge pressure on the Maidenhead defence.
