U12s Win Redingensians Tournament and Development Squad beat Reading

Phil Crookall23 Feb 2009 - 12:58

A good all round team performance to win the tournament and a great effort from the development squad to beat Reading at Bracknell

The Bracknell U12’s A team retained their title at the Redingensians tournament remaining undefeated on the day.The first game saw Bracknell beat Reading Abbey taking the lead early on and then showing some spirit to reply to Abbeys equalizing try to take the match 14-7The second match saw Camberley go one try up and hang on to their lead through halftime, when Bracknell managed to pull out a good second half performance to level the tie at 7 -7.
Going into the third game Bracknell were in a must win situation as a loss would have seen Redingensians A take the trophy. So it was with some relief that Bracknell drew first blood and scored the first try, but Redingensians were too good a team to lie down and equalised before halftime, after the break Bracknell started to dominate the possession and scored two more tries making the final score 21-7.
The final game of the afternoon saw Bracknell take on Redingensians B team who had showed throughout the day that they would not be a push over and indeed scored the opening try of the match. This put their A team back at the top of the table for the trophy, but the Bracknell boys responded stepping up the game and ran in three tries, making the final score 19-7 and giving the tournament win to Bracknell.
The squad consisted of Jack Smith, Dan McVeigh, Bradley Walters, Ryan Howe, Matt Kendall Thomas Slark, Callum Holland, Callum Angus, Jordan Onraet-Wells, Max Heaver, Oliver Crookall, Conal Watterson, Ben Davies, Joe Gater, Elliott Garrington, Luke May, and James Collett.

Just to round off a great day for the U12’s the development team stayed at Bracknell and took on Reading and won 47-17
No mean feat given that bracknell where also playing with a man down.
