Bracknell under 17s turned up in very wet and windy oxford for their 2nd league game of the season. Bracknell started strongly with good work from the pack to give the quick ball to the backs. With Oxford giving a away a few early penalties, bracknell were soon kicking the ball into the corners and building up pressure. It wasn't long before they gave away one in front of the posts which Ben Radford calmly slotted between the posts to give Bracknell a 3 - nil lead. 5 mins later Oxford gave another penalty away however this time Nick Cox stepped up and was unlucky to come up just short. With Oxford forwards now starting to put pressure on the bracknell pack and turning over ball it took some superb defence from the lads to hold them out. With Bracknell playing into the wind in the second half it was always going to be difficult to get out of there own half. However with some fantastic backrow bending of the laws and not getting caught by Matt Betts bracknell were able to keep turning the ball over and clear their lines. But with less than 5 mins to go Oxford kicked in to the corner. With them winning the ball and there backrow smashing up the centre it took some good defence to keep them out. Then They managed to get quick ball out to their backs it looked like they had to score with a man overlap, however with a bit of luck there was a forward pass and knock on. and that gave Bracknell another chance to clear there lines. With Bracknell now enjoying their defensive practice and winning another penality at a ruck, all it needed was Nick Coxs to kick the ball out, however he decided to give oxford one last chance and kicked the ball straight to the winger arms. It didn't last much longer though for bracknell to turn over the ball and this time finish the game.
It was a fantastic performance from everyone, but no one had any doubts that Matt Betts deserved the Man of the Match award.
