With several regular players missing for various reasons, we took on Banbury in extremely windy conditions, knowing that a win might put us within touching distance of the league semi-finals. Banbury's big forwards struck the first blows and quickly drove over for a 5-0 lead. One of their players was then red-carded for an illegal dangerous tackle, resulting in a long injury break, and our players were still regrouping when Banbury struck again to go 12-0 ahead.
The rest of the game was closely contested, with 3 more Banbury tries matched with 4 from Bracknell. Scott scored twice, along with Max and Luke touching down, and Liam converted all 4 which was remarkable in a strong cross wind. However, Banbury only converted 2 of their 5 tries, meaning it was 29-28 to them going into the final minute. The Bracknell green machine then managed to get Scott over the line to complete his hattrick, and yet another Liam conversion gave us a 29-35 win.
An awesome effort against tough opponents, and the Bracknell Colts deserve massive credit for rallying so strongly after early setbacks.
