A positive day at Bracknell RFC Lily Hill Park HQ, even though the results didn't quite do us justice. 33 of our Colts put in a great effort against Berks rivals Newbury RFC, and we should be proud of our performance level.
Our A team played Newbury U18s, who have several county players in their midst. We started playing downhill on pitch 2, and within minutes Liam had chipped into their 22 and Matteo chased the ball down for an early score. A penalty followed shortly after, and then a great try for the forwards, with several driving phases ending up with the whole pack pushing Max over the line and Liam converting - we were 15-0 to the good.
The rest of the match was less memorable, with a bad injury to a Newbury prop resulting in a long delay waiting for the ambulance, and we finished the game on pitch 3 after the B team match had concluded. Newbury scored 4 second half tries with 2 conversions, and despite 2 more penalties we ended up losing 24-21.
