The winning ways are ‘bucked’ as Bracknell lose to Buckingham in the 2nd round of the National cup!

Bracknell welcomed Buckingham RFC to Lilly Hill in a sun bathed afternoon for the second round of the National Cup. It started at a furious pace with Bracknell having the best of the early encounters but they failed to convert the pressure into points by not taking the opportunities they created.
Buckingham defended really well and then started to get on top at the breakdown and eventually scored a well worked try and conversion when Bracknell was down to 14 men. Buckingham continued to halt the Bracknell pressure and turn over possession, and just before half time they scored a second try to make it 12-0 at the turnaround.
Bracknell came out strong in the second half and put some good phases of rugby together and started to keep possession at the breakdown and secure good ball at the scrum. This improvement resulted in a penalty being awarded in front of the posts. Despite the eagerness of the crowd to go for the try Bracknell decided to take the 3 points, was this to be the start of the fight back?
Despite some further pressure from Bracknell pack it was Buckingham to score the next try and stretch the lead to 17-3. The Bracknell heads didn't drop and through a quickly taken penalty by Ollie he finished off the move with a well-earned try to make it 17-10. The score was soon to be drawn level by a superb run by Jordan off a backs move that carved open the strong Buckingham defence.
With the score level and both teams playing well the crowd was getting very nervous. It was Bracknell who gave away the first penalty at the ruck but the Buckingham fly-half was unable to convert it into points. It was then the turn of Bracknell to win a penalty after been stopped just inches short of the line and again Bracknell went for the points but unfortunately this time the kick agonisingly fell just short. The ball was cleared to touch and the game finished a draw, but Buckingham were awarded the game on the as the away team and for scoring three triers to Bracknell’s two.
