Bracknell U13’s 7’s Team 1 entered the Alton’s 7’s tournament with a few player changes from the team that won the Reading Rams Tournament the week before. Drew Halley and Harvey Goddard were unavailable but they were ably replaced by Eddie Blackman and Jensen Harpin
The first game in the group was against a very strong Havant 1 team but Bracknell excelled again with a closely fought 15-10 win.
The 2nd group game was against Newbury 2 and this time Bracknell won 35-0. Try scorers were Zach Pugh 2, Charlie Garrad 1, Eddie Blackman 1, Rufus Dibley 1, Seb Corley 1 and Jensen Harpin 1.
The 3rd group game was against Alton 2 with a 45-0 win with tries by James Waller 3, Rufus Dibley 3 and Sam Pemberton 3.
Having won the group the boys went through to the next round as winners of the group and found themselves up against their local rivals Newbury who finished 2nd in their group. This time it was a tougher match than the previous week in the Reading Rams tournament but once again the Bracknell boys came out winners 15-10.
The final game followed against Alton 1 and although the boys put in a massive defensive commitment against a very big and strong Alton team we fell short this time and lost 35-10 with tries by Charlie Garrad and Sam Pemberton.
Our Bracknell teams have progressed very well this season and having two back to back 7’s tournaments allowed the boys to showcase the fast running rugby that we can play when we are on our game. It augurs well for the start of the U14’s season in September.
