Sunday, saw the newly formed BRFC U13 Stormers team arrive at Bournemouth with what would be their first fixture with a larger team on a bigger pitch. With only one sub and an injury picked up during the warm-up, it was a tough start to the game with the first half flying by. Making no excuses but Bournemouth had a flexible approach to streaming players as either several first team players were in the second team or vice versa, but their #9 broke our defensive line a couple of times, to see Bournemouth B's round out the first half, 15-0.
Bracknell had the fight, but seemed to struggle on the larger pitch and with holding onto the ball.
The second half kicked off and we were watching another match, whatever Coach Halley and his team said during the team talk was put into practise and Bracknell seemed to get back into the game. Bournemouth again scored first and looked to be running away with the match. Two fantastic tries from Sam Sershall & Ollie Froud marked the beginning of the comeback. The second half score was 20-10 in Bournemouth’s favour, when Bracknell were narrowly denied another try. Bournemouth finished with a try on the final whistle resulting in a final score of 40-10.
The player’s man of the match was Sam Sershall , not only for his try but also his leadership in pulling the team together and coach’s man of the match was Ollie Froud for his sheer determination in tackling. He was on fire!
