Last game for the u14S as COV -19 swept across the Uk

Sunday 15th March

On what turned out to be the final game of the season Bracknell Hurricanes hosted Reading RFC U14A at their Calfridus Way ground on Pitch 5.
On a fine clear day Reading won the toss and kicked off and the game began at a frantic pace with both sides producing some good running rugby and some brutal defence.
It took Reading twenty minutes to break the deadlock with a try from broken play 40 metres out to take the lead 5-0.
The battle continued with more even play from both sides and Bracknell’s set of forwards producing arguably their best rucking and scrummaging performance of the season to go in at the break 5-0 down.

Bracknell kicked off the second half and play continued in the same vein for the next seventeen minutes before Reading scored again wideout, 10-0 to Reading.
Eight minutes later from a break off the back off a ruck Reading scored again and this time they converted to lead 17-0.
The Bracknell boys battled back and the continued pressure resulted in Reading feeling the pressure and conceded multiple penalties to put the Hurricanes on the front foot. A couple of quick tap penalties from Sam S and he has held up on the line and the forward recycled the ball from the back of a ruck a metre from Reading’s line, scrum-half Ollie B. scored typical sniping try as he dived under the defence to score. Zach P. stepped up to add the extras and the game finished 17-7 to Reading.
Second rower Harry W. who was making his Hurricanes debut in place of Will T. (who was out with a broken thumb), was awarded Man of the Match for some storming runs, great tackling and good all-round performance.

It was a brutal game with a massive commitment by both teams and very evenly matched with a good referee who allowed the game to flow.

This was a taste of what's to come as the boys look forward to the U15s season as BRFC are closing the gap on the other local teams.
