Another successful morning for the U14s

Strange morning at BRFC - we were the only age group at home so had pitch 1 and the whole clubhouse to ourselves, and we started with rain and cold wind, and finished in glorious warm sunshine!
We had nearly 40 players available, against about 25 from Ruislip, so juggling game time was always going to be a challenge, but off we went with Woody as the ref getting our A team underway. Ruislip kicked off, and we soon launched a great move from our 22. Louis W fed Will and onto Nat, who did a great miss pass to Matteo to score down the left wing. Louis W converted to give 7-0.
Minutes later Luke escaped from the breakdown deep in our 22 and launched a fantastic charging run down the right wing, and timed the perfect pop pass to Scott on the halfway line to score under the post, with 2 more Louis extras to give 14-0.
Another right wing move soon followed, with 3-4 players interchanging passes and great support running the whole length of the pitch, allowing Scott to score again, which was converted for 21-0.
As the end of the first third approached, we began to camp in their 22, and when they stole the ball and tried to kick clear, Dylan charged it down and grabbed the rebound to score. Louis W bagged his fourth conversion and we ended that phase 28-0 to the good.
We then rolled a full team substitution - which is a real treat as coaches to have so many players involved across the whole squad. We immediately chased our restart, and Harry reacted first to score from the right wing. Ethan converted, giving us 35-0 overall.
We then managed a long period of sustained pressure deep in the Ruislip half, and after another solid scrum big Lewis picked up from No.8 and charged through their defence to earn a good score. No conversion, but 40-0 on the board. Ruislip then had their longest period of territory and possession in the match, and went through phase after phase in our half. Eventually they breached our defence and converted to give 40-7 overall, and we had won the second third 12-7.
We then rang more changes for the final third. Dylan escaped for a long run down the right wing and was stopped just short of their 22. Soon after, Ruislip progressed into our half, and their left wing managed a weaving mazy run to get through all of our backs and score under our posts to show that they could still be dangerous. They converted to give 40-14.
We then rallied to camp down in the Ruislip 22, and drove over the line for Sergio to score, with Louis' conversion making 47-14.
As the final whistle approached we managed one last attack, and good interplay between several players allowed Thomas to score, Louis to convert for 54-14.
With the last play of the match, the BRFC team began to dream of hot dogs and chips, and forgot to tackle allowing Ruislip to have the final word and score to give 54-19 at the whistle. Final third score was 14-12, another Bracknell win.
Thanks to Woody for reffing, the parents for cheering, and the boys for playing so well.
Roll on the cup fixtures next week!
