With all of Bracknell suffering under water, the Sharks made the short trip through the mist to Windsor for the league game against Windsor.

The fog all around the town hid even the castle from the pitch, and it appeared the fog had also crept into the minds of the Bracknell boys. After the festivities of December, and the cancelled training the prior weekend, the game started with one side very fired up, and looking hungry whilst the other side appeared rather leaden footed. Suffice to say that a lot of uncharacteristic errors led to Windsor – deservedly – scoring 4 first half tries for a 24-0 lead.

A chat, a renewed sense of purpose saw a rejuvenated Bracknell team emerge for the second half, and immediately debutant Alex tore up the side of the pitch for an excellent debut try. With Josh converting, it was immediately 7-24 with most of the second half to come, and Windsor wondering where this new team had come from.

For most of the next 15 minutes the play was in the Windsor half with the backs handling and running very effectively, and the forwards, with Sam, Alex, Ryan and particularly Fraser to the fore making great strides forward. One particular rolling drive led to skipper Lewis eventually being held up over the line. With that try, the game would have remained in the balance, but unfortunately with a penalty conceded in Windsor territory, the home side managed to break away and extend their lead to 7-31.

Still, led by the forwards, and a good sense of adventure in the backs, Bracknell continued to chase the game, with Alex adding a second powerful try out wide to cap a very impressive debut.

As the clock ran away from Bracknell, Windsor added a last try in the dying seconds with a kick chase, to leave the final score at 36-12.

Despite the scoreline, the second half was a very impressive performance, and whilst the second half scoring was equal, on another (warmer) day Bracknell would have earned a couple more tries, and there was plenty to be pleased with.
