Little more to do at Littlemore

Little more to do at Littlemore

Matthew Randall16 Nov 2010 - 23:14

Match report by Rob Munro Winning starting to become a habit for the Mighty Threes

Bracknell made the long away trip to Littlemore last Saturday with the prospect of taking on the much improved outfit from Oxford . With some enforced team changes, it was clear that this was perhaps going to be one of the biggest test of the season so far.

Right from the off the home side pressed the visitors, but once again the now infamous Mighty Threes defence held firm with some great work on the line from Rosi holding up the ball.

It was perhaps against the run of play that Bracknell actually scored first though the supporting Johann after fine work from the centres. The converted score was then added to by Abbott who managed to run through the home team shaking off numerous tackles to score under posts.

Littlemore began to get exasperated with each other as they messed up several serious overlap chances, but finally they converted one to make the score at half time 5- 14.

It hadn’t been a good half for Bracknell , and nowhere near where they are capable of playing and the Capt. asked the team to dig in, go back to basics and up the intensity.

Straight from the restart, Bracknell started to put the moves together, and frequently frustrated and turned over the ball. Pullen coming into the front row, immediately gave the scrum some ascendancy, normal service resumed!! A score was inevitable, to leave Bracknell requiring one more try for the bonus point.

The pressure was all on Littlemore, and finally shortly after collapsing a scrum when they should have been given a penalty tries, Rosi dived over to complete the bonus point. Final Score 5 – 26. This wasn’t the best performance for the 3s, but the ability to come to awkward places and still win, shows how far the team has come. Next week another testing game with Harwell visiting Bracknell .
