1XV stung on the road

It was a bitterly cold day with a low bright sun in the sky, a strong wind blew across the pitch which seemed to carry the ball in strange places at times.

Within the first 5 minutes, Hornets had scored a try, quickly converted by Charlie Carter. Bracknell hit back almost immediately with a try of their own courtesy of James Ingle, then 5 minutes later another from Cameron McDonald. Only one conversion but the score was suddenly 7 - 12!

Unfortunately after that lightening start Bracknell conceded a penalty, before pressure in the front row forced Bracknell into making two substitutions in the pack. Despite this change Hornets still managed to put another three tries past Bracknell with two conversions before the half time break.

The second half started full of optimism but Bracknell failed to defend effectively and gave away too many soft penalties...suddenly the score was 35-12. There was a flash of hope when Michael Clarke, with his own indomitable style, thundered down the pitch to score a try; sadly not Vic Hardwicke's day as there was no conversion.

A few minutes later, Hornets repaid the compliment and scored a try of their own. The conversion brought the score to 42-17.

For the last twenty minutes Bracknell had several attempts at consolation tries but each time any play was robustly defended by the ever stronger Hornets.

Having lost two games on the trot, Bracknell now face an important game next Saturday 2nd December vs Maidenhead not only for local bragging rights but also for some much needed league points. KO is 2.15pm so please come along to Lily Hill and show your support.
