Bracknell 16 Ivybrdge 25

The sides only met for the first time in their history last season, neither side managing to record a home win.

In the one change from last weeks starting line up Luke James Fisher was making his debut for 1st XV on the wing. Perhaps at the other end of his career Kenny Barry took up splinter duties after an absence of over a year. The mood in the Bracknell camp was positive following two back to back bonus point league wins.

Prior to kick off a minutes silence was observed for Armistice Day. Ivybridge in their changed white shirts kicked off the game attacking towards the clubhouse.

Just after ten minutes a penalty from fly Mitch Pinkus gave Ivybridge the lead.

Bracknell’s response was almost immediate, with the referee signalling a Bracknell advantage, the ball found its way to Gabe Hills, who beating a number of Ivybridge tackles, scored out wide. Vic Hardwicke converted. 7-3.

The sides exchanged penalties before Perceli Nacamavuto was, perhaps somewhat harshly, yellow carded for a deliberate knock on. Although reduced in numbers Bracknell extended their lead with a further Vic Hardwicke penalty.

With Bracknell back to full strength it was now Ivybridge who were reduced in numbers as Mitch Pinkus was yellow carded, just before the half time break.

Half time: Bracknell 13 Ivybrdge 6

Bracknell now attacking the clubhouse kicked off the second half.

A quickly taken free kick from a scrum saw scrum half Ben Watts dart over the Bracknell try line in more or less the same position as Bracknell's try in the first half. Conversion from full back Charlie Braint was good. 13-13 with less than five minutes gone of the second half.

Bracknell conceded three kickable penalties in their own half, within a 15 minute period. Matt Pinkus finding his range, was able kick all three to give Ivybridge the lead, and then extend the lead. 13-22.

With quarter of an hour left on the clock, some Bracknell pressure finally resulted in a Vic Hardwicke penalty reducing the Bracknell deficit to six points. The Bracknell supporters hoped a comeback was on the cards. A further Ivybridge penalty saw any hopes dashed and sealed the Ivybrdge win.

Full time: Bracknell 16 Ivybrdge 25 (Points Bracknell 0 Ivybrdge 4)

The result leaves Bracknell in tenth spot in the league, with 22 points - the difference between twelfth and seventh spot being a spread of just five points. At the top end of the league Newton Abbot took the lead following Dings defeat at Cleve on Friday night.

The 1XV now have a week off before they are away at Hornets on the 24th November. The next home game sees Maidenhead make the short trip to Lily Hill on 2nd December (KO 2.15pm).

Congratulations to both the Stags and 3XV who recorded wins and both currently sit in second spot of their respective BBO league.

Finally massive congratulations from all at BRFC to Steve Ward who at the Berkshire RFC Volunteers Day Out at Twickenham yesterday was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award.
