Dings 29 Bracknell 7

It was perhaps Bracknell's final appearance at Landseer Avenue as Dings new impressive ground can be seen just off the M32. The last time these two teams met at Landseer Avenue it was snowing; today Storm Brian was in full force!

It was going to be a battle on the pitch to see who would cope better with the elements - it was Dings who stormed ahead with a try after 5 minutes, Dings full back Ali Duddell finishing off a backs move from the scrum. Conversion missed. 5-0

Bracknell responded and enjoyed some play in the Dings half, resulting in a penalty attempt that just went wide of the Dings posts. Bracknell centre Max Edwards, making his 1XV debut had his day cut short having to leave the field with an injury, replaced by Vic Hardwicke.

Half way through the first half Dings extended their lead. From a charged down kick, Dings were the first to react to a loose ball in the Bracknell try area and scored their second try right under the Bracknell posts. Dings captain Steve Plummer converted 12-0

As the rain got heavier, Dings third try came from a catch and drive from a line out. Conversion missed

Half Time: Dings 17 Bracknell 0

Into the second half and with Dings going though the gears, a series of driving plays saw second row Gavin Curry secure Dings bonus points try. Dings final try of the afternoon was almost carbon copy of their third try, the Dings forwards driving off a line out to give Dings a 29-0 lead, with 20 minutes a the game to go.

With 5 minutes to go and with the floodlights cutting through the doom, Bracknell’s scored a consolation try, centre Peceli Nacamavuto intercepting to score under the Dings posts.

Full Time: Dings 29 Bracknell 7 (Points: Dings 5 Bracknell 0)

The result leaves Dings top of the table and Bracknell third from bottom in a league where three are relegated at the end of the season – heart can be taken in the fact that they are only six points off fifth spot in the league, showing, just like last season, how close SW Premier is again.

Next week Bracknell face third placed Exmouth at Lily Hill – there is also a VP’s lunch (free for VP’s) – to book contact Sue Field, Clubhouse Manager.

Finally well done to the 3XV who recorded a 48-3 win over league leaders Beaconsfield, a result that leaves them in third spot in the league.
