The weather was perfect and the ground had been softened by the recent rain but was perfect for todays game. All the girls arrived with a mixed bag of excitement and nerves. Chobham Minis girls set up a guard of honour for the teams as they game out of the changing rooms which was a first for our girls.
Chobham kick off and the game started off at a fast pace and pace never slowed up with both teams going hard at each other and this resulted in Chobham scoring 3 tries and Bracknell’s Ella scored her 1st in the corner and Eva was denied her 1st try after a high tackle which resulted in a penalty try being awarded. This then meant the 1st half finished 12 -15 to Chobham.
The second half saw Bracknell start with 2 quick tries from Neve and a 2nd for Ella and then Chobham came back and the applied pressure resulted in them retaking after scoring 2 tries in the period. It was now or never for the Bracknell girls and the ref confirmed we had 3 minutes left. Bracknell had several attacks and after several penalties, managed to work their way into the red zone. Bracknell had a line out 5 meters out and we thought this was our best opportunity. Chobham got up and poached the ball but then fumbled the ball over the line and Bracknell had a second life line only to see the ball come straight out of the scrum so it was reset.. right focus and get this right girls. But sadly the ball popped out from the flankers side and we thought it was game over. But some how we secured the ball and managed to get it out into the back line and Eva saw the gap and took the opportunity to score and secure the win. 27 – 25.
After the game we awarded the players player and coaches awards to the teams. Bracknell Players player was voted by Chobham and this Molly Curley and Bracknell coach Jonathan M awarded Imogen Evans the coaches player.
