"With 5 new players making this their debut game and 2 returning to the sport the team was excited to see them in action!"

The whistle blew as returning player Holly Bentley delivered a kick to Thamesians, receiving the ball Thamesians were quick to head to the wing but with new player Vicky Udell at the guard she was swiftly bought down. As Thamesians attempted again to break through the Bracknell line a tackle by Jessica Biggs got the ball turned over to Bracknell. A strong carry by Joanna croft as she charged in but with a steal from Thamesians and quick hands they got the ball out again to the wing but where met by Steph Sillito and Rachell rickett. Hard tackles the girls gave Thamesians no option but to try and break through the centre of the Bracknell defensive line, big hits from Amber Clark as they tried but a penalty was awarded to Thamesians. A quick tap and go from them they offloaded to there 10 who quick on the feet headed for the wing but again was tackled down by Alice Whitbread. Amber ledger getting the Bracknell line ready Thamesians again tried to break through but stopped by Holly Bentley and again by Amber Clark as she won the ball for Bracknell, strong rucking from returning player Courtney Meers Bracknell scrum half Hannah Taylor got the ball out but unfortunately the whistle blew for a scrum.

The first scrum and Bracknell’s forwards pushed hard driving Thamesians back before a quick ball to Joy Westlake who kicked the ball out for a line out. Great lift from Chloe Budd and Jess Biggs as Courtney tried to steal the ball but unsuccessful however a knock on from Thamesians gave Bracknell there 2nd scrum. Again, the Bracknell forwards drive the scrum back as Hannah Taylor gives a quick ball out to Holly Bentley who kicks it away but is caught by Thamesians as they start to drive forward, tackles again from Rachel Rickett as she works hard to hold them off they offload again to their quick foot 10 as she finds a space on the wing and makes a break for it. Working the quick hands and offloads Thamesians manage to find gaps and break through Bracknell’s defence and get over the white wash for the first try of the game, with a missed conversion the score was 0-5 Thamesians.

From kick off Thamesians found space as and charged through the Bracknell defence before a try stopping tackle from Joy. Penalty awarded to Bracknell Joy aimed to kick it out of play but was just short! Thamesians again making a push on the wing but quickly dismissed off the pitch by Steph. Strong lift from Chloe and jess but the throw just landing too short for Courtney’s grip Joanna grabs and drives through the Thamesians defence before being tackled out of play. Line out for Thamesians found them getting quick hands away but were to slow as the pressure from Alice paid off with a hit and a steal for Bracknell to reclaim possession. Bracknell using their quick hands to try and get it out before a whistle blew for Thamesians offside giving Bracknell a scrum just shy of the Thamesians 22.

Great carries in to the attack from Taylor from the scrum gave enough time for the forwards to re-join the line. Great carries by Courtney as she pushed further before a great timed offload to Amber she again pushed to break through. Another penalty awarded to Bracknell and a quick tap and go from Taylor gets the ball to Kirsty as she finds a gap in the defence before an offload to Rachel as she continues to find space and another offload to Vicky. Holly finds a gap but the whistle is blown, so she confidently asks for the tee as she goes for a penalty kick to get Bracknell points on the board and does with no issues.

A kick to Bracknell from Thamesians the ball finds the hands of Kirsty as she charges in to the defensive line with again support from Amber Ledger and Joanna Croft, before the whistle blew for a scrum to Thamesians. Getting the ball out quick again there 10 made a break from it but not for too long as Joy bought her down before a steal from Holly giving the ball back to Bracknell. Penalty awarded to Thamesians there quick hands found the ball out to the wing as again their number 10 charged for the try line but with success placing the ball down. Unsuccessful conversion the score now stood at 3-10 Thamesians with the lead.

Last push before half time Bracknell pushed Thamesians back to their 5-metre line as again they tried to break through to get a try before the half time whistle, great carries again from Chloe and Amanda but just short as the whistle blew for half time.

Starting the 2nd half was new player Sarah Victoria, Torii Collins and Michelle Jeyarajah! Quick reactions from Thamesians allowed them to get the ball out to the wing who managed to get the ball under the posts for another try.

Holding their heads high Bracknell chased for the ball again trying to win it back and get through the defensive line, great hits from Torii and Michelle as Thamesians tried to again move round Bracknell using the wing but were denied. Again, Thamesians trying to push through before being taken out of play by Joy and Holly giving Bracknell a line out. Hard hits from Sarah and Alice gained Holly enough time to steal the ball before passing to Joy to kick out of play. Again from the lineout Thamesians use their speed and find a gap and get another try.

Bracknell still fighting to try and get pass the Thamesians defensive line and great pressure from Amber ledger get Bracknell a penalty. Amber Clark leading the charge she quickly offloads to Courtney Meers who again pushes forward to get more yards for Bracknell but again the ball is stolen away by Thamesians who comes up to the 5 metre line but is stopped by Holly and Sarah. Scrum to Thamesians they get the ball out quick and work it down there line before again changing direction and finding space in the Bracknell line to get another try under the posts.

Kick to Thamesians saw the prop make a break for it but swiftly bought down by Torii Collins and Amber Ledger, still pushing hard Rachel manages to get the ball free which is quickly stolen by Jess Biggs as she makes a run down the wing. Bracknell still pushing and getting closer to the try line with great offloads until a miss pass by Bracknell sees the Thamesians get an opportunity add another try to the list.
Bracknell deliver a great kick but with more attacking tackles on the wing from Michelle and Rachel Thamesians find another gap as they slip through the defence to get another try, followed by another in quick succession.

Again, great rucks from Amanda cooper and Courtney gets the ball out the Sarah who finds a gap in the defence and gets Bracknell closer to the 5 metre. Quick hands from Taylor and Rachel sees the ball reach Holly who gets the bally to Joy and makes a final push on the wing but just as she reaches the try line is tackled out of play.

Today I saw best support play I have ever seen from this team and the newbies well..... you all smashed it. Every player put their heart and soul into the game today and you should all be really proud of yourselves. ”
