Sad passing of Mike Dixon

Sad passing of Mike Dixon

Stu Evans11 Mar - 19:09

Former Club Coach

It is with great sadness that we inform our members of the passing of Mike Dixon, a former coach and instrumental figure in the history of Bracknell RFC.

Mike was a driving force behind the club throughout the 1980s. His legacy is woven into the very fabric of our grounds; he was involved in the construction of the clubhouse extension and the installation of the club’s first-ever weight training room.

On the pitch, Mike led with passion and distinction. He was involved in the ambitious tours to Canada and the Far East and famously coached the side to victory in the 1987 County 7s.

While many will remember the silverware, others will still fondly recall the 6-4 County Cup final loss under his tenure. A game defined by a famously "controversial" disallowed try that like many others, Mike never forgot!

Our thoughts are with Mike’s family and friends. He will be remembered as a leading force who helped build the facilities and the spirit we enjoy today.

Mike's funeral will take place at St Denys Church, Stanford in the Vale, SN7 8HU at 1pm on Monday 23rd March
