Every Player and Parent - Action Required

Action Required

All Mini and Junior Parents and Players are now required to Re-affiliate (existing players) or Affiliate (New Players) to Bracknell Rugby Club via the RFU GMS Portal. All existing players’ parents MUST update their own, and their child’s GMS record and “Re-affiliate” by the 17th August 2023.

RFU Regulations require all club players to be registered in order for them to play rugby.

Why?

The Rugby Football Union (RFU) are no different to any other Governing Bodies. They need to hold a register of who is playing at each club for a number of reasons. It’s helps them to assess participation levels, see who’s playing in matches and divert funding for projects that support clubs. It supports and tracks players and schools involvement, and vitally it holds up to date records of a player should theirs parents need to be contacted and details of a players medical needs be required. The system is GDPR compliant and thus requires you to share this information via this process.

How?

Existing Player - Parents, Please logon into to your existing RFU GMS account and update your contact details. Email contact details have become mandatory, Re-affiliate to Bracknell RFC. You can do this even if you played for a different club last season

New Mini or Youth Players - Please create a new RFU GMS account completing all sections of the registration as accurately as possible I.e. If your son or daughter has a medical condition or allergy - please share that information.

The Practicalities

The RFU GMS system has undergone a number of upgrades over the years. The system records many aspects of our club, from our fixtures and results to our players and our coaches qualification and safeguarding data. It is a vital tool that makes rugby happen and records who is participating and who is governing and responsible for the activity taking place whether that’s a team at Mini”s Festival or a League/Cup Final.

The system does have some quirks such as it won’t find your child’s school if the school itself is not registered with the RFU. This tends to apply to some newer primary and secondary schools or those with academy status. It’s not perfect.

Further support

Most RFU GMS issues can be found on the England Rugby website by searching “RFU Age Grade Affiliation” on Google.
Please do contact your Teams Age Grade Manager for further support at this busy time if you cannot find the answers and they will try to assist you.
