As part of the clubs continued investment in our playing facilities, today has seen the completion of the floodlight upgrades to pitches 2 and 3.
Our contractor Direct Sports Lighting has completed the switch over from Sodium to LED lighting.
The new lighting provides sufficient light to host and play floodlit matches for both Mini and Juniors, and also senior league matches up to Level 7 (2ndXV).
The switch to LED offers a number of other benefits to both the club and the environment. The new LED lighting is more energy efficient than the previous system and thus will not only reduce the clubs electricity costs, but also our carbon footprint.
Mark Findlay, Chair of Facilities said "The new system will provide an improved training and playing experience with a consistency of light across the playing surface. It is immediately noticeable from both on and off the pitch."
With the last of the drainage upgrades to pitch 1 completed over the summer, and the floodlight upgrade to pitches 2 & 3 complete, the committee's focus now turns to the improvement of our indoor social spaces and the hall. With the assistance of the RFU Women's Rugby World Cup 2025 Impact Fund, this project is being managed by Richard Bond, Facilities Indoor Chair, and this is due to commence in March 2025.
More on those plans nearer the time!
