We welcome all new players. It is never too early to start to learn the great sport of Rugby Union. Those involved in rugby know it is more than a sport; it teaches a number of core social and emotional values such as teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship.
Within the under 11’s section we welcome boys and girls from school Year Six. We train every Sunday morning from 10.00 am to 12.00 at Bracknell rugby club. It is advised to arrive early and walk to the training field and register. There is no need to pre-register, just turn up on the morning. We allow children to try out for up to three sessions before they are invited to join as a club member.
The training focus, in the under 11’s, is all about teamwork and learning the core skills of contact rugby via a mixture of modified games and drills. The focus is always on having FUN. We have a varied fixture calendar throughout the season including training, friendlies against other local clubs and Festivals. The festivals are most often split into streams to ensure children compete against others of a similar ability.
What to wear and bring
All players must have a gum shield
Children must bring a bottle of water as we take frequent water breaks. The main clubhouse provides refreshments for parents.
Coaching & Support
Bracknell mini’s rugby coaching operates entirely on a volunteer basis. We are reliant on parents/guardians volunteering to assist in any way possible – in fact the session cannot operate without volunteers. This can include helping with the coaching, being a first aider, helping the Team Manager with registration and organisation on the day,
So please feel free to volunteer your time.
Please note parents/guardians MUST remain pitch side with their children for the duration of the session.
