Welcome to Bracknell Minis Under 12s Teampage

All new players Welcome! It is never too early or late to start to learn the great sport of Rugby Union. Those involved in rugby know it is more than a sport; it teaches a number of core social and emotional values such as teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship

Within the under 12s section we welcome boys in school year seven. We train every Sunday morning from 10.00 am to 12.00 at Bracknell rugby club, commencing from September through to May. It is advised to arrive early and walk to the training field and register. There is no need to pre-register, just turn up on the morning.

We allow children to try out for up to three sessions before they are invited to join as a club member.

The training focus, in the under 12s, is all about teamwork and learning the core skills of contact rugby via a mixture of matches, modified games and drills. The focus is always on having FUN. We have a varied fixtures calendar throughout the season including training, friendlies against other local clubs and festivals.

What to wear and bring:
All players must have a gum shield. In early September when the ground is still hard a pair of training shoes is often sufficient. As the season progresses and the ground starts to get muddier you will need a pair of boots with metal studs. (Football studs and blades are not permitted because they can be very sharp and cause unintended injuries).

Shorts and a top (no metal fastenings) is OK at the start of the season, however, as the winter weather sets in multiple layers including sports base layers are a good idea. Many players like to buy a Bracknell shirt from our shop, however for match days we provide players match shirts.

Children must bring a bottle of water as we take frequent water breaks. The main clubhouse provides refreshments for parents.

Coaching & Support
Bracknell Minis rugby coaching operates entirely on a volunteer basis. We are reliant on parents/guardians volunteering to assist in any way possible – in fact the session cannot operate without volunteers. This can include helping with the coaching, being a first aider, helping the team manager with registration and organisation on the day,
so please feel free to volunteer your time.

Please note, that a parent or other nominated adult (who the child knows well) must remain pitch side during all training sessions or tournaments. This is for interests of safety.

For more information please contact:

email: Gosia.hopley@btinternet.com or feel free to turn up at a training session and see what we do!
