Final Win sees 4XV TVIL Champions!

In this final Thames Valley Invitation League(Division B) game, Bracknell knew that a win against Didcot II would see them top the league.

The first half started with Bracknell playing with the wind, on a day that the players and supporters would all have to endure all four seasons of weather (OK not snow!) the during the game.

Whether it was the importance of the game but Bracknell started nervously, however those nerves were dispelled with two fine try’s from Jasper Miranda and Stefano Rosi both of which were converted by Ben Radford.

Didcot responded with a fine try of their own meaning that the score after the 25mins was 7-14. This game was still very much in the balance.

With the supporters huddling under what shelter was available to keep out of the heavy rain, we saw a moment of ‘genius’. Jon Bullett spotted that the ball could be moved quicker across the field by kicking the ball across the pitch rather than the normally accepted passing the ball down the line. It would be fair to say that the execution did not come off – in fact I am not sure if Didcot have got the ball back yet! Coach Paul Jefferies was seen staking the line muttering, about ‘dick of the day’!

Bracknell refocused and from catch and drive from a lineout Simon Brambley extended the Bracknell lead. There was just enough time in the half for Jasper Miranda to cross the try line – converted by Ben Radford. 26-7 at half time.

Into the second half Jon Bullett, redeemed himself by finishing off a try from a scrum win against the head, Ben Radford failing to covert this time.

The spirited Didcott defence was now tiring and Coach Paul Jefferies took full advance of this by using the interchanges wisely. Bracknell took advantage of the gaps that were opening up on the pitch and try’s from Jason Lewis, Taran Barrington and Simon Brambley, securing his brace, put the Bracknell victory beyond any doubt.

With the final move of the game a neat passing move on the wing, saw Jasper Miranda touch down, covert his own try under the posts, and claim his hat trick. Full time 59-7 to Bracknell.

The win means that Bracknell 4XV top Thames Valley Invitation League (Division B) - many congratulations to PJ and the team!!! GOBRFC!!!
