The number of Bracknell supporters that traveled to Rose Hill were treated to an entertaining game, that kept the winter chill at bay.
Abbey opened the scoring with a penalty. Bracknell responded with a Bradley Walters try coming off a driving maul. Some stained Abbey pressure saw them cross the Bracknell try line to re-take the lead, the conversion going wide.
A repeat of a driving maul that saw Bracknell’s first try, resulted in a Dan Gyles score. Ben Radford kicking the conversion. 8-12
Some good Abbey hands in the back saw Abbey score their second try of the day, and a further penalty took the score to 16-12. It was Bracknell’s turn to display some good hands in the backs with a Will Hopkins break and try. Conversion by Ben Radford took the half time score to 16-19.
Bracknell were to open the second half scoring. A show and go by George Elliott saw him score under the Abbey posts. A successful conversion took the score to 16-26.
An Abbey try took the score to 23-26 before some Bracknell pressure in the Abbey half allowed Bradley Walters to score his second try of the day. A Ben Radford penalty extended Bracknell’s lead to 23-36.
Bracknell’s final score of the game came from Callum Browse showing the Abbey defence a ‘clean pair of heels’ to touch down. In the final moments of the game the referee awarded a penalty try to Abbey.
