Canterbury Shield - Division 3
Bracknell 2nds 23 v Esher Academy 8
With Manager Greg Anstead away in the USA , his crusading youngsters didn’t let him down and played especially well considering skipper Matt Bramley, Matt Surman and Luke Carter were called up to the 1st team and Matt Anstead was rested after suffering from concussion in the last match.
The team were led by Michael Clarke and he inspired his team to a victory despite struggling in the first half where they were 0-8 behind.
Early in the second half the veteran flanker Bryce Phillips was hospitalised with a potential neck injury that fortunately, was not as serious as first feared but it did galvanised the team into playing exciting rugby based on a strong defence and players running great lines.
Tries were scored by Gideon Kamya, Ryan Dee and Kevin Cambell with ‘Milky’Morris picking up two penalties and a conversion.
Next weekend is reserved for the Berkshire cup and details will be posted on the club web site.
