Mighty Threes take on Marlow Twos

Mighty Threes take on Marlow Twos

Dan Ledger12 Mar 2012 - 12:49

The Mighty 3s returned to winning ways on a beautiful Saturday for rugby handing out a 50point to 12 thumping of Marlow. Right from the warm-up skipper Munro could see the team were up for the game after being tightly denied by Maidenhead the week before. Consistency is so important in this league and with virtually the same set of forwards as last week, straight from the off you could see Bracknell meant business. With old stalwart Oli Jones and someone who looked like Cut Throat Jake on the wing (Nick Shears) returning to the back line to give invaluable experience, and weight, it wasn’t long before the scores clocked up. Frost smashing through a couple of tackles to score well. Shears quickly followed with one the slowest cutlines your ever likely to see, energy conservation was the excuse to score under posts. The bonus point win was in the bag by half time and so was Nick Shears who retired hurt with dodgy hamstrings, well that’s the confession he signed anyway. Further tries followed in the second half with Pullen crashing over from close range after he’d finally stopped moaning to the ref.
Bracknell should have had more tries, but the two flyhalfs Abbott and Radford decided to showboat the rest of the game much to the annoyance of the Bracknell pack. Plus with the win well in the bag concentration levels all round did dip allowing Marlow to notch up two tries of their own.
Special mentions go to Borthwick who came off the bench to score two well taken tries, finally he does to others what he does in training to us every week and Frost with another solid double.

This was strong performance from Bracknell, which showed what performance can be put in if we train well and get our concentration up. This victory ensures Bracknell 3s will play in the BBO Div 1 next season, which given the sides we’re up against is no mean feat in itself. Well done Fellas!!
