Kick-off was at 2.15, Grove kicked-off with Bracknell playing towards the clubhouse. After 12 minutes Grove were first on the scoresheet, a Bracknell penalty lineout was won but was eventually cleared by Grove with a long kick into the home sides 22, a kick on was grounded under the posts to put the visitors 0-7 up.
Bracknell responded minutes later, with the home side attacking the ball was spun out by the backs to Ian Burch on the wing to score in the corner, with the conversion good, Bracknell were back on level terms, 7-7
The home side were in front 5 minutes later, just after what would have been a spectacular score, a long pass to winger Bayliss was given forward by the match official. The resulting scrum to Grove was won but a kick from the back of the scrum was charged down by Jake Hodge and grounded by Simon Bayliss, the unconverted try took the score to 12-7
Two minutes later the first on many injury stoppages, probably due to the physical aspects of the match and the heavy pitch. After another stoppage near the end of the half, with 39 minutes on the clock, Bracknell scored their third try, a line out from a penalty kick, the backs secured the ball, Birch, May, Bayliss all involved, the ball was moved back inside, Grove thought they had secured a turnover, but again the backs prevailed, the ball out to Henderson to run in to the corner, Bracknell had shown great energy in securing the ball, an excellent try unconverted, 17-7.

The second half was kicked off by Bracknell playing away from the clubhouse. The injury stoppages were building up and after 4 in this half, Bracknell secured the try bonus point. A penalty, a rolling maul at the far end, Bracknell scored with the conversion good, the score was now 24-7, unfortunately scorer was unknown due to the distance away.
Just after the restart, Bracknell were putting together another good backs move, when there was another stoppage. This injury was much more serious and the Grove player was carried off on a stretcher with a neck brace after 15 minutes of medical attention.
Grove came back strong after this stoppage and were next to score. From a line out and a run to the home sides 22, and three phases, one of their backs ran into score, the converted try took the score to 24-14.
The match was becoming a bit scrappy at this point, with another couple of time offs for injuries. Bracknell recovered well from the revitalised Grove attacks and made the final score of the match. A scrappy lineout from Grove resulted in a scrum for a knock-on which was won by Bracknell, six phases later, a penalty scrum was awarded after a free ball kicked did not gain an advantage. From the penalty an attacking kick and with the ball retained, the backs had the ball down the line to Simon Bayliss on the wing, who dotted the ball down in the corner. With the attempted conversion hitting the post, the final score was 29-14. With
time running out and two further stoppages, the last Grove attack ended when the ball was kicked and went in to touch and the final whistle blown.
