We are very sad to announce the death of Guy Elliot last week. Guy had been a member of the club since 2003 when his son Jacob joined as an Under 7 and Guy joined the coaching team which helped develop one of the most successful teams that has ever represented the club.

Winning at least one tournament (but often 3 or 4) every year from U7 until U12, the squad developed year on year with input from Guy and his fellow coaches culminating in Berkshire League titles as Under 14s, 15s & 16s before winning BBO Division 3 as Under 17s, and BBO Division 1 as well as reaching the Quarter Finals of the National Colts Cup as Under 18s.

Many of the squad represented Berkshire from Under 13s through to Under 18s and on to Under 20s and there have also been 3 Age Group Internationals whose shirts now hang proudly in the Clubhouse. With 5 of the boys also going on to be selected for Bracknell 1st XV (including his son), the legacy of Guy’s coaching continues to be felt throughout the club.

Despite his recent illness, Guy was a regular attender at 1st & 2nd XV matches where his knowledge and experience made him an outstanding assessor of the rugby being played and a wonderful companion with whom to watch the game.

Guy will be sorely missed by his many friends – we send our heartfelt condolences to Lisa, Charlotte and Jacob (his wife and children). Guy’s funeral will be held at 11am on Tuesday 27th March at Easthampstead Crematorium with guests invited back to Bracknell RFC afterwards.

The family have requested no flowers but have set up a Just Giving page to raise funds for Bracknell RFC in Guy’s memory.
