With the new season fast approaching a reminder to all club members, players and parents regarding the conduct expected at BRFC.

Whether on the rugby pitch or any other sports field, youth team sports are the ultimate classroom. While sport can give the potential joy of winning or the disappointment of losing, it is more importantly about issues such as effort, skill-building and team participation. Learning to have a positive outlook irrespective of the result, is an important skill children can apply to many other areas of their lives. They learn the importance of teamwork, respect for authority and rules, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship i.e. how to win with modesty and lose with dignity.

Throughout their lives as they learn these invaluable lessons, children need guidance and support from their parents, grandparents, wider family members, teachers, sports coaches, youth leaders and other adults. The way in which we all behave sets an example to our children as well as other adults – we must all take responsibility for our actions and recognize that it can and does encourage others to copy us including our children.

It is essential that we set acceptable levels of behaviour for everybody while representing the club (including players, coaches, volunteers or spectators) whether at Lily Hill Park or at any other location. When anybody fails to maintain these agreed standards then this has an adverse impact on the club, its players and other members up to and including sanctions from the RFU including the deduction of league points from our 1st XV.

Please see below Bracknell RFC Fair Play Codes. We believe that these are a reasonable MINIMUM standard to which we expect everybody to adhere.

We must also ask everybody to remember that we are all responsible for our club and our clubhouse. Please respect everybody volunteering or working at the club whether on or off the pitch – they are here to help you but they have the right to be spoken to politely. Please also respect the facilities at Lily Hill Park – please return all glasses to the bar when you have finished with them, please put any litter in the many litter bins provided and please use the ashtrays provided rather than dropping cigarette butts on the ground.

Thanking you all in advance for you cooperation.
