Watch out for Coach Ross's Tyre's!!

Training report - Sept 10
You will have noticed we split the players into two teams this week, the Reds and the Blues. Out first festival in October is a mixed ability festival, and to prepare for this we want the boys getting used to playing and working together. As the season evolves we may move players between the squads for balance, and some clubs may arrange festivals that are not mixed ability. We will worry about that when we have too!
This week we worked on two areas. Ross ran the "Holding" drill, the objective is to work on defensive positions, work as a unit, and also to get into the right body position for the ruck - this is where the tyres were used. Alongside this we did a couple of drills to practice our tackling, this worked well initially, but when we moved to a 2v1 and some decisions about passing was required we saw that a little more work was needed!
We finished with a match, and the rugby got better and better as we played more. A little work on the scrum is needed though!
Over the next couple of weeks we will build on the skills and match situation with the aim of being ready to go for our first festival.
Please make sure the boys come back with clean bibs next week, we don't have many spares forgetting them will make things difficult for us.
Finally a reminder, those that haven't paid club subs / fees will not be able to play in the festivals, so please make sure this is done asap. Any questions on this please talk to or email Becky.
