The 3s and 4s were both in action again at the weekend with the 3s looking to bounch back from a disappointing game away at Windsor last weekend with a tough fixutre against Maidenhead 2s. The 4s were looking to keep their undefeated league form going with a trip to High Wycombe.

The squad is starting to really see the benefit of some of the strength in depth coming through and throwing up some tough selection choices for the management and both teams went out with strong looking squads with a good mixture of experience and youth.

For the 3s the years were rolled back with Radders (and as we are well informed, there is only one Radders) starting at 10 and Matt Tipper returning at full back looking to steady things. The game was played at a high intensity with some huge hit going in all the way through, but apart from 1 or 2 minor flash points it stayed relatively clean. Bracknell took an early lead but Maidenhead struck back to go 3-5 up, however, good control in the set pieces allowed the home team to build some more pressure to go over and retake the lead at 8-5.

The 2nd half stayed very tight with the 3s having to through back a lot of sustained pressure from the visitors, both teams missed a few kicks at goals and the score remained the same. With only a couple of minutes to go the 3s thought they had secured the win, however, Maidenhead were able to pounce with an interception to sneak the win. Bracknell can not blame that one moment for the loss, everyone put in 100% and we just lacked a little bit of precision which would have put the game beyond reach. A few more good weeks of training should put that right and all the guys no that there is pressure on every position with the fours doing well.

Speaking of which the mighty fours extended their run to 6 from 6 away at High Wycombe. A bit of reorganising was required with a couple of guys stepping up to the 3s but the guys responded very well. Young Radford (better known as Ders) controlled the backs well and put in a very good display at 10 together with scrum half Dave Gaynor. In the forwards Ben Kendrew continues to impress at number 8 and Keith keeps putting in solid performances.

Despite the narrow loss for the threes overall there were a huge amount of positives to take forward from the whole squad. Keep the good numbers up at training over the next few weeks as we head towards xmas!!!
