What is Mini Rugby ?

The Rugby Continuum, which ensures that every youngster gradually acquires skills required for the full XV-a-side game by the age of under 13, aims to improve individual performance through purposeful and enjoyable activity, with a limited number of competitive fixtures and festivals played to test skills acquired.

The Continuum is not just a “scaled down” version of the IRB Laws of the Game played by “scaled down” adults, but a logical progression of modified games for children, with individual rules reflecting ability and safety. Players safely progress through clearly defined stages compatible with the development of their physical and conceptual abilities.

Where do we play ?

The Bracknell Mini Rugby teams play at Lily Hill Park, Lily Hill Drive, Bracknell, Berkshire, RG12 2UG. Directions can found here. The Minis make use of a number pitches surrounding the main BRFC ground, details can be found here

When do we play ?

The Continuum season will continue to run from 1st September to 30th April inclusive.

The playing of mini/midi rugby matches in England by, or between, clubs outside the season (as defined by these dates) is expressly forbidden. Only RFU approved or organised festivals/tournaments may take place in May.

What do you need ?

To start with shorts, tee-shirt and football boots with aluminium studs carrying the BSI kite mark. These can be purchased from your local sports shop or from the Kit shop at the club.

During the colder months, it is essential that players have a tracksuit top and bottoms or bottoms with a drill top (this can be bought from the kit shop) as occasionally some standing around is inevitable and they will need to keep warm. Maybe even for the younger members at least 5 layers. Please also include a water bottle, to prevent dehydration.

Mouth guards are essential for all the age groups, we have adopted the stance that if the children do not have their mouth guard with them they will not be able to play. It is for their safety.

The kit consists of a club jersey (Green, Gold and Black), black shorts, black socks and boots, which can all be purchased.at the kit shop, which is open on a Sunday from 10am until 12.30pm, and Saturday 12pm till 2.30pm and for 1 hour after a home game.

Also available are drill tops as well as a selection of supporters wear.
